City located on the banks of the Madre de Dios and Tambopata rivers. Called the capital of biodiversity, it is the entrance to the Amazon rainforest of southern Peru. The contrast of natural wealth and important source of commerce is undoubtedly one of the most important characteristics of this place. Its people are very warm and pleasant, heirs of ancestral knowledge, such as the use of local plants and their benefits in humans, and others as interesting as their customs, myths and legends, which are fascinating. Among its attractions we can find: do the treetop walks, boating on the beautiful lake Sandoval, have the opportunity to observe animals such as alligators, giant ants, turtles, monkeys, various types of birds and also exotic trees typical of this part of the Peruvian jungle. Visit the famous Colpas and see the beautiful and colorful macaws feeding on them. Hike the trails and discover rare species of insects, mammals and reptiles. Additionally, take a boat at night and navigate the rivers to discover the night jungle and see the beings that inhabit it. It is spectacular.
