The sacred city of Caral is a magnificent archaeological site belonging to the ancient Caral culture, which developed between 3000 and 1500 BC, is called the Cradle of the Andean Civilization and also considered the oldest civilization in America. The time in which this culture developed is impressive as it shares this with civilizations such as Egypt and Mesopotamia. This culture is also a clear example of the regional integration process between the coast and the Andes.

The city takes its name from the Caral culture and is very important due to its strong impact on modern archeology, history and its spectacular type of construction. It has been declared Cultural Patrimony of humanity by Unesco and is also considered as ``The Oldest City of America``. This magnificent ancestral urban center is located in the district of Supe, province of Barranca, just 182 km from the city of Lima and 32 km from the Pacific Ocean. The place has a mild to warm climate with an average of 18º C.
